ABSTRACT

The objective of this study was to identify and discuss the tools for the promotion and evaluation of adequate and healthy eating based on the Food Guide for the Brazilian Population. The scoping review was conducted according to the JBI Manual for Evidence Synthesis via the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic reviews and Meta-Analyses extension for Scoping Reviews (PRISMA-ScR) checklist and by searching PubMed/MEDLINE, EMBASE, SciELO and LILACS. Sixteen studies on relevant tools, based on the food guide for individuals of all age groups, were thus included: two descriptive studies, two randomized clinical trial protocols, eleven methodological analyses, and one psychometric paper, aimed at either a focal population (n=12) or health professionals (n=4). Six studies addressed tools for promoting adequate and healthy eating, and ten developed tools for evaluating dietary practices or the knowledge and activities of health professionals. This review can therefore assist health professionals in choosing instruments for the implementation and/or dissemination of food guide recommendations, contributing to the promotion of adequate and healthy eating habits.


O objetivo deste estudo foi identificar e discutir as ferramentas de promoção e avaliação da alimentação adequada e saudável baseadas no Guia Alimentar para a População Brasileira. A revisão de escopo foi conduzida de acordo com o JBI Manual for Evidence Synthesis, utilizando para relatório de revisão de escopo o guia Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic reviews and Meta-Analyses extension for Scoping Reviews, com busca nas bases de dados PubMed/MEDLINE, EMBASE, SciELO e LILACS. Seis estudos abordaram ferramentas para promoção da alimentação adequada e saudável e dez desenvolveram ferramentas para avaliação de práticas alimentares ou de conhecimento e atividades de profissionais da saúde. Esta revisão auxiliará os profissionais de saúde na escolha dos instrumentos para o processo de implementação e, ou, divulgação das recomendações do guia alimentar, contribuindo para a promoção da alimentação adequada e saudável.

ABSTRACT

Abstract Background Fatty acids are important components of diet that may influence the development of CVD. Objective To verify the relationship of dietary fatty acids with cardiometabolic markers in individuals at the cardiometabolic risk. Methods This cross-sectional study involved 282 subjects (116 M/166 F, 42 ± 16 years) attended the Cardiovascular Health Care Program, Universidade Federal de Viçosa (Brazil). Anthropometric and body composition measurements as well as metabolic and inflammatory markers were assessed by standard procedures. Demographic and lifestyle variables were obtained by semi-structured questionnaire. Food consumption was evaluated by 24h recall. Student's t-test or Mann-Whitney-U test and chi-square test were used, considering the statistical significance level of 5% probability. Results Individuals who eaten fat, fatty acids saturated and fatty acids polyunsaturated above recommendation (> 35, 7%, and 10% of caloric intake) were more likely to be overweight (p < 0.05). Those individuals with higher intake of medium-chain fatty saturated acids (≥ 1.05 g/d) had lower values (p < 0.05) of body mass index, waist circumference, waist-hip ratio and waist-height ratio and higher values (p < 0.05) of total leukocytes, C-reactive protein and total cholesterol, and LDL. Subjects with higher of palmitoleic acid intake (≥ 0.94 g/d) presented higher values of BMI, fat percentage and HOMA-IR (p < 0.05). Conclusion This cross-sectional study found different associations of dietary fat and cardiometabolic risk related to adiposity and inflammatory markers, according with chain-size and saturation, indicating the need the more detailed on the dietary assessment of obese patients to identify risk factors and established best strategies to control. ABSTRACT Objective To assess the relationship between branched-chain amino acids intake in the current diet and the metabolic and body adiposity markers in a population at cardiovascular risk. Methods This is a cross-sectional study with 282 adults and elderly people from the Cardiovascular Health Care Program of the Universidade Federal de Viçosa. Sociodemographic, anthropometric and body composition data, as well as metabolic biomarkers were collected using standardized protocols. Dietary intake of branched amino acids was assessed using a 24-hour recall. Results Individuals with a higher branched-chain amino acids intake (≥2.6g/day, median value) had lower body fat (29.6 vs 32.2%; p=0.019), and higher serum ferritin (113.2 vs. 60.1mg/dL; p=0.006) and uric acid concentrations (4.4 vs. 4.0; p=0.023). In addition, a lower prevalence of overweight and excessive abdominal fat (p<0.05) was found in the individuals with higher branched-chain amino acids intake. They also had a higher daily intake of fiber, copper, zinc, magnesium, and iron, as well as a lower intake of total lipids. Conclusion In the present study, the intake of branched amino acids is negatively related to total and central adiposity, but more studies are needed to fully elucidate this possible relationship. RESUMO Objetivo Avaliar a relação entre o consumo de aminoácidos de cadeia ramificada na dieta atual e os marcadores de adiposidade metabólica e corporal em uma população com perfil de elevado risco cardiovascular. Métodos Trata-se de um estudo transversal com 282 adultos e idosos do Programa de Atenção Cardiovascular da Universidade Federal de Viçosa. Dados sociodemográficos, antropométricos e de composição corporal, além de biomarcadores metabólicos, foram coletados utilizando protocolos padronizados. O consumo alimentar de aminoácidos ramificados foi avaliado através de um recordatório de 24 horas. Resultados Indivíduos com maior consumo de aminoácidos de cadeia ramificada (≥2,6g/dia, valor da mediana) apresentaram menores valores de gordura corporal (29,6 vs 32,2%; p=0,019) e maiores valores de séricos de ferritina (113,2 vs. 60,1mg/dL; p=0,006) e ácido úrico (4,4 vs. 4,0; p=0,023). Além disso, foi encontrada uma menor prevalência de sobrepeso e excesso de gordura abdominal (p<0,05) nos indivíduos com maior consumo de aminoácidos de cadeia ramificada. Eles também apresentaram um maior consumo diário de fibra, cobre, zinco, magnésio e ferro, além de um menor consumo de lipídios totais. Conclusão No presente estudo, o consumo de aminoácidos ramificados está negativamente relacionado à adiposidade total e central, porém mais estudos são necessários para elucidar completamente essa possível relação. ABSTRACT

The scope of this article is to analyze the accreditation criteria of the studies that evaluated actions of health promotion and risk factor prevention of Health Promoting Schools (HPS). A systematic review was conducted based on the recommendations proposed in the "Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (Prisma)" protocol of articles that assessed HPS in the following databases: SciELO, Lilacs, Medline, PubMed and Portal Capes. From the analysis of the three pillars for accreditation of HPS, three of the studies analyzed did not include all the criteria for certification as HPS on the "Planning Process" and "Health Promotion Activities Developed" pillars. The schools cited in these studies perform health education, prevention and/or health promotion activities, however, it is misleading to refer to themselves as HPS. The main challenges for implementation, development and continuity of HPS were identified as being intersectionality and insufficient financial and qualified human resources. HPS need to be certified and submitted to an ongoing evaluation process. It is also suggested the topic of health promotion be included in the syllabuses of training courses of health education teachers and other health education professionals.

Fundamentos: Os escores de risco são ferramentas utilizadas para indicar a probabilidade de ocorrência de certo evento cardiovascular e identificar previamente os indivíduos com baixo, médio e alto risco para desenvolvimento de doenças cardiovasculares. Objetivo: Estabelecer o risco cardiovascular dos usuários de um programa de atenção à saúde cardiovascular de uma universidade, bem como avaliar a relação dos mesmos com estilo de vida, dados clínicos, sociodemográficos e outros marcadores de risco cardiometabólico. Métodos: Estudo transversal com amostra de 197 participantes, dos quais foram coletados dados demográficos, antropométricos, clínico-metabólicos, hábitos alimentares e do estilo de vida por meio do Escore de Risco Global e do Escore de Risco de Framingham. Valor de p < 0,05 foi considerado estatisticamente significante. Resultados: De acordo com o Escore de Risco de Framingham, 84% da população analisada foi considerada baixo risco e 16% de risco intermediário/alto, enquanto que, de acordo com Escore de Risco Global, 18% foram baixo risco, 45% de risco intermediário e 37% de alto risco para infarto ou morte por doença coronária em 10 anos. Conclusão: O excesso de peso corporal e os valores séricos de ácido úrico se demonstraram importantes marcadores de risco cardiovascular, além daqueles dos escores, de modo que deveriam ser considerados na prática clínica


Background: Risk scores are tools used to indicate the probability of occurrence of a certain cardiovascular event and to previously identify individuals at low, medium, and high risk for the development of cardiovascular diseases. Objective: To establish the cardiovascular risk of users of a cardiovascular health attention program of a university, and assess its association with lifestyle, clinical, sociodemographic data, and other cardiometabolic risk markers. Methods: Cross-sectional study with a sample of 197 participants. Demographic, anthropometric, clinical, and metabolic data, eating habits and lifestyle information were collected using the Global Risk Score and the Framingham Risk Score. P-value < 0,05 was considered statistically significant. Results: According to the Framingham Risk Score, 84% of the assessed population was considered low risk and 16% as intermediate/high risk. However, according to the Global Risk Score, 18% of the participants were low risk, 45% were intermediate risk and 37% were high risk for infarction or death from coronary heart disease in 10 years. Conclusion: Excess body weight and uric acid serum levels showed to be significant cardiovascular risk markers in addition to those of the score and, consequently, they should be considered in clinical practice

ABSTRACT

Introdução: Os compostos bioativos possuem um importante papel antioxidante e proporcionam um tratamento adjuvante no combate às Doenças Crônicas Não Transmissíveis. Objetivo: Determinar o consumo atual de compostos bioativos (carotenoides e polifenóis) em indivíduos com risco cardiometabólico. Metodologia: Estudo transversal com 227 sujeitos participantes do Programa de Atenção à Saúde Cardiovascular da Universidade Federal de Viçosa. Foram coletados dados de ingestão alimentar atual para determinação do consumo de carotenoides, polifenóis, micro e macronutrientes utilizando um recordatório 24 horas. Dados antropométricos, de composição corporal, sociodemográficos e de estilo de vida também foram avaliados. O teste de Mann Whitney e correlação de Spearman foram realizados no SPSS v.20.0, com significância de p2,52 mg/dia) obtiveram menores valores de gordura corporal total (p<0,001). Conclusão: Nossos resultados indicam que um maior consumo de quempferol esteve relacionado com menores valores de indicadores de adiposidade total. Porém, mais estudos são necessários para se estabelecer os mecanismos envolvidos em seus potenciais benefícios em relação à adiposidade e resposta metabólica (AU)


Introduction: The bioactive compounds play an important antioxidant role and provide an adjuvant treatment to fight Chronic Noncommunicable Diseases. Objective: To determine the current intake of bioactive compounds (carotenoids and polyphenols) in subjects with cardiometabolic risk. Methods: Cross-sectional study of 227 subjects who participated in the Cardiovascular Health Care Program of the Federal University of Viçosa. Data of current dietary intake were collected for the determination of carotenoids, polyphenols, micronutrients and macronutrients consumption using a 24-hour recall. Data of anthropometry, body composition, sociodemographic conditions and lifestyle were also evaluated. The Mann Whitney test and Spearman correlation were performed using SPSS v.20.0, with significance of p 2.52 mg / day) had lower values of total body fat (p< 0.001). Conclusion: Our results indicate that a higher intake of kaempferol was associated with lower values of total adiposity indicators. However, more studies are necessary to establish the mechanisms involved in their potential benefits regarding adiposity and metabolic response (AU)

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate whether excessive weight and body fat are associated with metabolic and food habits changes in adolescents METHODS: It was made the analysis Body composition, food habits, fasting glucose and lipid levels were analyzed from 159 adolescents, aged 10 to 14 years, male and female, from public schools in Viçosa MG. We used Kolmogorov-Smirnov test; Student's t distribution and Mann Whitney; Pearson and Spearman correlation, chi-square and Poisson regression, with p< 0.05. Results: From the total changes found, 25.6%; 39% and 67.3% corresponded, respectively, to overweight, excessive body fat and inadequate total cholesterol. Adolescents with excessive weight and body fat have the highest weight, waist and hip circumference, Body Mass Index of Fat (BMIF), Body Mass Index Fat Free (BMIFF) values. Overweight adolescents had a higher prevalence of HDL (PR = 2.55, 95%CI = 1.52 to 4.29) and triglycerides (PR = 3.30, 95%CI = 1.44 to 7.57) inadequacy and those with excessive body fat have a tripled prevalence of low HDL levels (PR = 3.05, 95%CI = 1.69 to 5.48, p < 0.001). The association between excessive weight and HDL and triglycerides remained significant following adjustment for gender and age; however, for excessive body fat, only the association with HDL remained significant after the adjustment (PR = 3.07, 95%CI = 1.70 to 5.54). There was no association of nutritional status (BMI/age) and body fat percentage with inadequate intake of food groups, as well as the inadequate availability of sugar and oil. CONCLUSIONS: Excessive weight and/or body fat was associated with inadequate levels of HDL and triglycerides, reinforcing the importance of adequate lifestyle to prevent these changes


OBJETIVO: Avaliar se o excesso de peso e o excesso de gordura corporal estão associados com alterações metabólicas e hábitos alimentares em adolescentes. MÉTODOS: Analisaram se composição corporal, hábitos alimentares, glicemia de jejum e níveis lipídicos de 159 adolescentes de 10-14 anos, de ambos os sexos, de escolas públicas de Viçosa, MG. Utilizaram-se os testes de Kolmogorov-Smirnov, t de Student e Mann Whitney; correlação de Pearson e Spearman, qui-quadrado e regressão de Poisson bruta e ajustada, com p < 0,05. RESULTADOS: Em relação às alterações apresentadas, 25,6%, 39% e 67,3% apresentaram, respectivamente, excesso de peso, excesso de gordura corporal e colesterol total inadequado. Adolescentes com excesso de peso e de gordura corporal apresentaram maiores valores de peso, circunferência da cintura e do quadril, Índice de Massa Corporal de Gordura (IMCG) e Índice de Massa Corporal Livre de Gordura (IMCLG). Adolescentes com excesso de peso apresentaram maiores prevalências de inadequação de HDL (RP = 2,55; 95%IC = 1,52 4,29) e triglicerídeos (RP = 3,30; 95%IC = 1,44-7,57) e adolescentes com excesso de gordura corporal apresentaram uma prevalência triplicada de baixos níveis de HDL (RP = 3,05; 95%IC = 1,69-5,48; p grupos alimentares, bem como com a inadequação da disponibilidade de açúcar e de óleo. CONCLUSÕES: O excesso de peso e/ou de gordura corporal esteve associado aos níveis inadequados de HDL e triglicerídeos, reforçando a importância do estilo de vida adequado para prevenção dessas alterações
